Du Chisiza Junior gets posthumous recognition
The family of departed theatre maestro Du Chisiza Jnr say they feel honoured with the Lifetime Legend Award presented to the actor.
The award was presented by filmmaking company Chaz Productions on Saturday night during the premiere of their latest movie Lissy Blue Heart at the Bingu International Convention Centre Auditorium in Lilongwe.

Speaking in an interview, daughter to the theatre guru Doreen Chisiza said the honour shows that their father has not been forgotten and it helps to keep his legacy and name alive.
“This award means the world to us. We are extremely grateful to see that our dad is still loved,” she said.
Doreen has also hinted plans by the Du Chisiza Jnr family in championing an initiative that will help develop budding artists and supporting creatives in Malawi.
Upon announcing their plans to present the honour to Du Chisiza Jnr, Chaz Productions chief executive officer Chaz said it is time Malawi started honouring their deserving sons and daughters.
“There are many people in Malawi who used to look up to Du Chisiza Jnr. The honour is long overdue. He is a legend. He is the greatest of all time. I wish he was around to receive the award in person,” he said.
One of the actors who worked with Du Chisiza Jnr, Jeremiah Mwaungulu said he was also happy with the honour.
He said: “I had the privilege of working with him in a number of productions. What stood out about him was not what he achieved but how he did it.”
